Stocky Celebrates Multicultural Awareness Week

Last week (18 - 24 March), our school community came together to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our diverse student body during Multicultural Awareness Week. The week-long event kicked off with a spirited basketball match, setting the tone for days filled with engaging activities aimed at fostering understanding and appreciation for our diverse backgrounds.

Throughout the week, students participated in daily quizzes, attended talks by both students and teachers about their countries of origin and cultures, and enjoyed captivating showcases of talent ranging from singing and dancing to musical performances, all representing the vibrant diversity within our school community.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly Cultural Dress Day, where students and teachers alike proudly donned clothing representing their heritage or cultural backgrounds, showcasing the kaleidoscope of colours and traditions present within our school. Additionally, a delightful food tasting festival provided a culinary journey around the globe, with parents generously contributing dishes from Hong Kong, the Philippines, the Caribbean, and beyond.

The festivities culminated in a thrilling five-a-side football match between Sixth Form students and staff, with the students emerging victorious. This friendly competition served as a fitting conclusion to a week dedicated to celebrating our differences and fostering unity within our school community. As we reflect on the success of Multicultural Awareness Week, let us continue to embrace and celebrate the diversity that enriches our school, fostering an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect.
