Adapted Learning Pathways

The Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) & English as a Foreign Language (EAL) Teams are committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to their adapted learning pathways and with support are able to make excellent progress.

Our pathways intertwine with all departments and subjects in the school and we strive to build a sense of belonging and inclusion for students. Brene Brown writes, “ Belonging is about us saying we belong together; we’re all the same. There’s a thread that connects us all and yet at the same time it’s saying – I see you for your unique individual qualities and I don’t just value and respect that – I love that and will nurture that.”

Our adapted curriculum pathways at KS3 and KS4 promote progress and attainment for all students from their individual starting points. We believe that making a student’s progress visible and celebrating genuine achievements, early and often, helps them to become motivated and engaged in their learning journey.

We aim to support our young people to be reflective learners who use their transferrable skills, talents and abilities to achieve their maximum potential in school, at home, in the community and in their chosen professions and lives.

We believe that the adapted curriculums provide opportunities for our students to become responsible and respectful young people, who are engaged, motivated and dedicated to active, relevant, real life and accessible learning experiences which will enable them to grow into curious, alert and daring young people.

Our vision is to develop interpersonal skills, confidence, self-esteem and social responsibility through lifelong learning and “working with love”. We aim to support our students to build their resilience to appreciate a range of learning opportunities and to believe in themselves and the value of their learning and the significant contribution they are able to make to society in the future.
