We are thrilled to announce that eleven of our students have been shortlisted for the John Downton Award for Young Artists 2024. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud of the following students:

- Eva M
- Filip S
- Joe B
- Lauren F

Their artwork will be on display at County Hall, Maidstone, from October 24 through January, with an awards evening scheduled for 28 November.
The competition includes prizes for the top three in each age group (11–16 and 17–18), as well as a "Highly Commended" recognition in each category. The prestigious John Downton Trophy will be awarded to the school with the best overall submission, and there will be media-specific prizes for painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media.
The John Downton awards encourage and celebrate the creativity and diversity of expression of the county’s students, inviting Kent schools and colleges to participate and exhibit the best examples of their painting, drawing, mixed media and photography.
The work is judged by an experienced panel and first organised in 2000 at the request of Miss Hilda Downton, sister of the celebrated Kent artist, poet and philosopher, John Downton. This competition has been held annually ever since to commemorate his life and work by recognising the achievements of the young artists of Kent, aged 11-18.
Please join us in congratulating our shortlisted students on this fantastic accomplishment!
