Celebrating Diversity: Multicultural Week 2025

From 10 to 14 March, St Simon Stock Catholic School came alive with colour, music, and cultural pride as we celebrated our annual Multicultural Week. This much-anticipated event provided a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to showcase their heritage, learn from one another, and embrace the rich diversity within our school community.

Each day began with a special assembly, where students took to the stage to share heartfelt speeches, perform traditional dances, and sing songs that reflected their cultural identity. These assemblies were a moving reminder of the power of heritage and personal expression, leaving everyone inspired and engaged.

Lunchtime Fashion Shows added to the vibrant atmosphere, as staff and students confidently walked the runway in traditional clothing or in colours representing their national flags. The joy and pride radiating from those who participated – as well as the enthusiastic audience – made these moments truly unforgettable.

A global culinary experience was on offer throughout the week, with our school restaurant serving dishes inspired by a different continent each day. The excitement culminated on Friday when parents contributed to a Food Tasting event at lunchtime, offering delicious samples from the Philippines, India, Mexico, Italy, Nigeria, Scotland, and Ghana. This was a fantastic opportunity for our school community to broaden their palates and appreciate the rich flavours of world cuisine.

Friday was also a Non-Uniform Day, where students and staff proudly wore clothing that represented their cultural heritage. The generosity of our community shone through, as donations raised an incredible £586.45 in support of CAFOD and Heart of Kent Hospice (HOKH).

To conclude the week, the much-anticipated Sixth Form vs Staff Football Match took place after school on Friday. The game was a thrilling contest, filled with energy and friendly rivalry, ending in a 2-0 victory for the staff!

Multicultural Week was a resounding success, celebrating the diversity that makes St Simon Stock such a special place. A heartfelt thank you to all who participated, performed, cooked, and supported – your enthusiasm and generosity made this an unforgettable week!

A massive thank you and well done to the Sixth Form student team who organised the entire event. Your hard work, dedication, and leadership made this week truly special for everyone!
