DofE Silver Expedition 2023

30 students completed their final assessed Silver Expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on the weekend of 24 September 2023.

They started on Friday morning in Densole, Dover to arrive at 8.30am. Although most groups struggled with the map reading at first, they soon got the hang of it and all made it to camp in Kearsney on the first night. The second day they progressed to Kingsdown, battling new builds and moved footpaths, and overlooked the channel towards France for their evening view. Many students chose to get up early to watch the sun rise over France.

Teachers met groups as regularly as possible to top up water and cheer them onwards.

Huge congratulations to all the students who completed the Silver Expedition and a big thank you to all the DofE staff (five from Stocky and one from St Gregory's) – we couldn’t have done it without you.
