GCSE Results Days 2024

Congratulations to our Year 11 Students on their GCSE Results

The St Simon Stock Catholic School community would like to congratulate our Year 11 cohort on another set of excellent results.

The strong collaboration between our students, their families, and their teachers is clearly evident in this set of results. There was a wonderful atmosphere at St Simon Stock Catholic School today, with everyone celebrating alongside one another. Enrolment into our successful Sixth Form is underway, and we are delighted to announce that we have the highest number of students ever meeting the entrance criteria to continue their studies with us. We anticipate a continued high number of students joining us in the coming academic year.

Of particular note:

  • 70% of our students achieved a standard pass of grade 4 or above in English and Maths
  • 72% of our students achieved 5 or more GCSE grades 9-4
  • 67% of our students achieved 5 or more GCSE grades of 9-4 including English and Maths
  • 83% of our students achieved a standard pass of grade 4 or above in an English subject
  • 75% of our students achieved a standard pass of grade 4 or above in Maths
  • 70% of all grades awarded to this cohort were grades 9-4
  • There were many notable areas of success across the breadth of the curriculum areas
  • Progress 8 measures are not confirmed by the Department of Education until later in the year, but results indicate a strong performance.

Headteacher Mrs Denny said ‘I would like to congratulate all Stocky students on their fantastic GCSE results this year. I am full of admiration for the way in which they have approached their studies and for the strength of character, determination and resilience they have shown. Their efforts have ensured that they are able to lay strong foundations for their next steps, which they are all excited about.’

Mrs Denny continued, “We are also full of admiration for a number of students who have joined the school late for a variety of different reasons and for students who have overcome barriers to learning and have performed exceptionally well. Like our Year 13 students last week, there is a story behind each and every set of student results, and we are proud of each and every one of our Year 11 students. It shows what can be achieved with high and consistent expectations and an inclusive and pastorally and academically strong environment.’’

Mrs Denny concluded by adding, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank their teachers and other staff who have taught and supported our students so effectively, as well as parents and carers who play a key role in supporting and encouraging students throughout their school lives.”

We wish all our Stocky students well in their next steps and, of course, look forward to seeing the vast majority in the coming academic year as they return to study in our Sixth Form following these excellent GCSE results. Congratulations Year 11.
