Gallagher Open Day
On 6 July we took a group of Year 10 students to the Gallagher Open Day. The Gallagher Group has grown and developed into one of the South East’s most successful privately owned businesses. They are passionate about their people and their relationships with the communities in which they serve. This led them to establish the Gallagher Academy to promote careers in the sector incorporating their apprenticeship opportunities, their graduate programme, in-school visits, careers open days, quarry tours and their internal team training and development courses.
The Gallagher Academy helps students understand the wide range of opportunities available to them within the construction industry. The Gallagher Academy will also provide work experience opportunities that will inspire future generations to choose a career in construction and attract local talent into their business.
The students had to opportunity to explore the career pathways within the construction industry and take part in challenges and activities throughout the day including building a bug hotel, using the simulators, taking part in VR headset trials and attempting virtual welding. They interacted with industry professionals and extended their personal networks. The students came back inspired and enthused and eager to map out their post-16 journey.
