Stocky Steps Up for The Big Lent Walk

On Friday 28 March, students and staff at St Simon Stock Catholic School put their faith into action by taking part in The Big Lent Walk for CAFOD. Each hour, year groups took turns heading out to the sports field, where they were greeted by Lee from CAFOD. He shared inspiring insights into the vital work CAFOD does to support communities in need around the world. After hearing about these incredible efforts, students walked laps of the field for the rest of their lesson before returning to class, demonstrating both their solidarity and commitment to making a difference.

It wasn't just students who took part — members of our support staff also stepped away from their desks to join in during break and lunchtime. This allowed them not only to contribute to the cause but also to enjoy a moment of rest, reflection, and respite in the fresh air.

The collective efforts of our school community were truly remarkable. Together, we walked an astounding 2016km and raised an incredible £622 through our JustGiving page. In addition, staff and students generously donated spare change throughout the day, raising a further £406.34. This brings our grand total to an amazing £1028.34!

This achievement is especially significant during this Jubilee Year, embodying the theme of Pilgrims of Hope. It is a testament to the compassion, dedication, and generosity of our school community, truly living out our school motto: Labora Cum Amore – Work with Love.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and to all who contributed. Your support will make a real difference to those in need. Thank you for walking with love and hope!
