Our Story

St Simon Stock Catholic School was founded in 1967 and named after Carmelite Saint Simon Stock, our legacy intertwines faith and love in every aspect of our mission. Saint Simon Stock, was believed to be born in Aylesford and is linked to the nearby Aylesford Priory and St Francis' Church, Maidstone.

The school was opened in 1967 to serve the growth of the Catholic community within the Maidstone area, originally with the intention of the school serving as the centre for a new Catholic parish.

In the early 2000s, John McParland was appointment a as headteacher.

Drama studio built

In the early 2000s a Drama Studio was built in memory of Kath Topping, a former school governor, along with two new science classrooms.
 

Designated as a Specialist Technology College

The school was designated as a Specialist Technology College by the DfES in 2003. The additional funding was used to provide a new Sports Hall and Sixth Form building with teaching rooms, including a conference room. Another new block was also built, containing three specialist ICT rooms, each equipped with a full class set of 30 desktop computers and interactive whiteboards. The block also included two business studies classrooms.

Mr Wall appointed Headteacher

At the end of the 2009/10 academic year, it was announced that Brendan Wall, a headteacher from a Catholic school in Wiltshire, would take up the post of headteacher from September 2010.
 

School changes to a Science College

From September 2011, the school's specialist status was changed to a Science college, owing to the facilities afforded by the newly refurbished science classrooms after a significant upgrade

School converts to Academy Trust

On January 1, 2014, our school embarked on an exciting new chapter by converting to academy status, proudly joining the Kent Catholic School Partnership (KCSP) Trust. This transformation marked a significant evolution in our educational journey, aligning us with a network dedicated to excellence and innovation.
 

50th Celebration

In July 2017, our school celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a grand fair attended by parents, staff, and alumni, both past and present. The event featured a variety of fun stalls, including food, and successfully raised £1,100 for two of our school charities: Heart of Kent Hospice (HOKH) and the Sacred Heart School in India. The day also marked a significant milestone—25 years of our school's ongoing support for the Heart of Kent Hospice, during which we raised a total of £15,801 for the charity.

Mr Malone appointed Headteacher

Following the formation of Academy Trust status, Jon Malone is appointed Headteacher with Brendan Wall being appointed Executive Principal of St Simon Stock Catholic School and St Gregory's Catholic School.
 

Mrs Denny appointed Headteacher

On September 1, 2023, history was made as Mrs A Denny stepped into the role of Headteacher, becoming the first woman to ever hold this prestigious position at our school.

Multicultural Week

In 2024, our school hosted its first-ever Multicultural Week, featuring a wide range of activities such as talks, quizzes, sports, dance, and a cultural dress day. Parents from our community contributed by providing food from their cultures for students to try. The week was a resounding success and has since become an annual event, celebrating the diversity within our school.
